Nomogram to predict risk of resistance to intravenous immunoglobulin in children hospitalized with Kawasaki disease in Eastern China

Hongbiao Huang et al.

Summary: A nomogram was developed to predict the risk of resistance to intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) in children with Kawasaki disease in eastern China, using retrospective data analysis and external and prospective data validation. The nomogram showed satisfactory discriminatory power and could help reduce the risk of coronary artery lesions.

Risk Factors of Coronary Artery Aneurysms in Kawasaki Disease with a Low Risk of Intravenous Immunoglobulin Resistance: An Analysis of Post RAISE

Kazuki Iio et al.

Summary: In Kawasaki disease patients predicted to respond to IVIG treatment, risk factors for developing coronary artery aneurysm (CAA) within one month included baseline maximum Z score >2.5, age <12 months at fever onset, and nonresponsiveness to IVIG. A baseline maximum Z score >2.5 was the strongest predictor of CAA development, suggesting candidates for intensified primary IVIG treatment in future clinical trials.

Prediction of Coronary Artery Aneurysms in Children With Kawasaki Disease Before Starting Initial Treatment

Ching-Ying Huang et al.

Summary: The study suggests that a Zmax >= 2.0 of coronary arteries on baseline echocardiography in children may predict a high risk of late CAAs and allow for targeted early intensification therapy.
