Enhanced Heat Transfer for NePCM-Melting-Based Thermal Energy of Finned Heat Pipe

Sameh E. Ahmed et al.

Summary: This study conducted a numerical simulation to enhance the melting performance of phase change materials (PCMs) within multiple tubes. It was found that the flow structures, irreversibility of the system, and melting process can be controlled by adjusting the number of heated fins. Case four, with eight heated fins, showed the highest average liquid fraction values.

Melting characteristics of a longitudinally finned-tube horizontal latent heat thermal energy storage system

Nishant Modi et al.

Summary: This study analyzed the effect of fin geometry on the thermal performance of longitudinally finned-tube horizontal latent heat thermal energy storage systems. It was found that incorporating a small quantity of longitudinal fins can significantly reduce complete melting time. Additionally, the study recommended that the fin height should not exceed half of the annulus gap and concluded that long fins were superior to short fins in terms of melting characteristics.
