De-Domestication: An Extension of Crop Evolution

Dongya Wu et al.

Summary: Researchers summarized the process of crop de-domestication, the ecological roles of de-domesticates, the mechanisms underlying crop de-domestication syndromes, and the conditions favoring de-domestication events. Recent de-domestication studies have expanded our understanding of the complexity of crop evolution and highlighted the genetic novelties of de-domesticates beneficial for modern crop breeding.

Weedy rice (Oryza spp.): what's in a name?

Nilda Roma-Burgos et al.

Summary: There are two cultivated rice species in the world, originating from Asia and Africa respectively. The domestication and hybridization process has resulted in various weedy rice types, causing challenges in rice cultivation. The complex lineage of weedy rice has led to confusion in nomenclature, with different names used for different origins of weedy rice populations.
