In-silico reverse docking and in-vitro studies identified curcumin, 18α-glycyrrhetinic acid, rosmarinic acid, and quercetin as inhibitors of α-glucosidase and pancreatic α-amylase and lipid accumulation in HepG2 cells, important type 2 diabetes targets

Kadima Samuel Tshiyoyo et al.

Summary: This study identified the potential value of curcumin, 18 alpha-glycyrrhetinic acid, quercetin, and rosmarinic acid for the management of diabetes. These compounds were found to inhibit alpha-amylase, alpha-glucosidase, and hepatic lipid accumulation. The correlation between in-silico and in-vitro results was demonstrated.

Effect of Interfacial Activity of Eugenol and Eugenol Esters with Different Alkyl Chain Lengths on Inhibiting Sunflower Oil Oxidation

Malihe Keramat et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the effects of eugenol esters with different alkyl chain lengths and combinations of eugenol + eugenol esters on sunflower oil oxidation. It was found that eugenyl acetate exhibited higher antioxidant activity in sunflower oil, while eugenol esters showed decreased activity with longer alkyl chains. Synergistic and antagonistic effects were observed with different eugenol esters combinations. Additionally, the ester combinations were able to stabilize reverse micelles and reduce temperature-related effects on oil oxidation.

Enhancement of Bioactivities of Rhizome Essential Oil of Alpinia galanga (Greater galangal) Through Nanoemulsification

Subhashree Singh et al.

Summary: Alpinia galanga, also known as greater galangal, is widely distributed in India and Southeast Asia, with its essential oil being in high demand for flavoring food, spa, and perfumery. Research has shown that nano-emulsified essential oil of A. galanga exhibits enhanced antimicrobial and antioxidant activities compared to the regular essential oil. This suggests that essential oil-based nanoemulsion of A. galanga can be utilized as an antioxidant and antimicrobial agent in pharmaceutical industries.
