Synthesis and characterization of recyclable PVA/SrTiO3/Ag2O composite with photocatalytic degradation performance of methylene blue

Summary: In this study, a recyclable polyvinyl alcohol/strontium titanate/silver oxide (PVA/SrTiO3/Ag2O) composite with photocatalytic performance was successfully synthesized. The composite showed high efficiency (88%) in degrading 20 ppm methylene blue under UV light. Factors such as initial concentration of dye and pH were found to affect the photocatalytic performance, and the recyclability of the catalyst was also evaluated.

Photocatalytic degradation of tetracycline using hybrid Ag/Ag2S@BiOI nanowires: Degradation mechanism and toxicity evaluation

Summary: The widespread use of antibiotics has led to their continuous release and presence in the ecosystem, resulting in the emergence of antibiotic-resistant bacteria in aquatic environments. In this study, Ag/Ag2S@BiOI nanowires were synthesized and used as photocatalysts for the degradation of a model antibiotic, tetracycline. The nanowires showed efficient degradation performance under optimal conditions and exhibited negligible toxicity towards cells, indicating their potential as promising photocatalysts.

Biological mediated synthesis of reduced graphene oxide (rGO) as a potential electron shuttle for facilitated biological denitrification: Insight into the electron transfer process

Summary: This study investigated the facilitated biological nitrate removal using ecofriendly green synthesized reduced graphene oxide (rGO) as an electron shuttle. The addition of rGO significantly enhanced the nitrate removal by donating electrons, and the rGO-biofilm showed increased photocurrent response. The study also identified several dominant genera involved in the denitrification process. Overall, the findings suggest that green synthesized rGO can be used as an ecofriendly electron shuttle for facilitated biological denitrification.

Nickel decorated manganese oxynitride over graphene nanosheets as highly efficient visible light driven photocatalysts for acetylsalicylic acid degradation

Summary: Nickel-decorated manganese oxynitride/graphene nanosheet nanocomposites were prepared and demonstrated as efficient photocatalysts for the degradation of acetylsalicylic acid (ASA) under visible light. The nanocomposites showed higher efficiency and structural stability compared to manganese oxide (MnO) and manganese oxynitride (MnON) nanoparticles, attributed to their larger specific surface area and smaller band gap. Additionally, the nanocomposite exhibited insignificant cytotoxicity, making it a promising candidate for remediation of ASA-contaminated water.

The optimized DZH nanoflowers exhibit enhanced PWS activity and excellent stability, making them promising candidates for efficient water splitting applications.
