Immune Soluble Factors in the Cerebrospinal Fluid of Progressive Multiple Sclerosis Patients Segregate Into Two Groups

Gloria Donninelli et al.

Summary: Patients with primary-progressive and secondary-progressive multiple sclerosis show similar levels of cytokines and chemokines in their cerebrospinal fluid, but stratification based on MRI results reveals potential differences. Significant correlations between immune mediators in the CSF are lost in patients with more severe disability, suggesting a disruption in coordinated immune responses in advanced stages of the disease.
