Trajectories of glycemic control with clinical pharmacy specialist management of veterans with type 2 diabetes

Ted R. Grabarczyk et al.

Summary: This study examines the long-term trajectories of HbA1c among Veterans with type 2 diabetes who received clinical pharmacy specialist-led diabetes management. Glycemic control and neonatal outcomes in women with gestational diabetes mellitus treated using glyburide, metformin, or insulin: a pairwise and network meta-analysis

Dan-Qing Yu et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that metformin is more effective in reducing 2-h postprandial blood glucose compared to glyburide, with lower rates of neonatal hypoglycemia and preeclampsia. Metformin also results in lower birth weight and maternal weight gain compared to insulin, making it the most promising drug for preventing neonatal and maternal complications in gestational diabetes mellitus.

Metformin for gestational diabetes study: metformin vs insulin in gestational diabetes: glycemic control and obstetrical and perinatal outcomes: randomized prospective trial

Maria J. Picon-Cesar et al.

Summary: This study demonstrated that metformin treatment for gestational diabetes achieved similar glycemic control as insulin, with better postprandial glycemic control, lower risk of hypoglycemic episodes, less maternal weight gain, and lower rate of cesarean deliveries. Most obstetrical and perinatal outcomes were similar between metformin and insulin-treated groups.
