Dysregulated kappa-opioid receptors in the medial prefrontal cortex contribute to working memory deficits in alcohol dependence

Gengze Wei et al.

Summary: This study found that dysregulated mPFC KOR function is associated with impaired working memory in alcohol dependence. Intra-mPFC infusions of a KOR agonist induced deficits in working memory, while intra-mPFC KOR antagonism ameliorated alcohol dependence-induced impairment in working memory.
