Cyclic imines in shellfish and ascidians in the northern Adriatic Sea

Kristina Kvrgic et al.

Summary: This study aimed to determine the occurrence of cyclic imines (CIs) in different shellfish species from nine harvesting areas in the northern Adriatic Sea. Results showed that CIs were found throughout the year in Mediterranean mussels and European oysters, while Queen scallops and ascidians had lower levels of CIs. The study also revealed differences in species predisposed for CIs accumulation and seasonal and locational variations in CIs occurrence.
