Neutron-proton pair transfer reactions and corresponding Weisskopf-type units

Summary: The concept of neutron-proton two-particle units (np-Weisskopf units) is introduced for the analysis of reactions on nuclei along the N=Z line. The study presents these units for the expected (n, j, l) orbits from O-16 to Sn-100 and proposes that np-WU's can provide a simple and robust measure of isoscalar and isovector np pairing collective effects.

Neutron-proton pairing in the N=Z radioactive fp-shell nuclei 56Ni and 52Fe probed by pair transfer

Summary: The isovector and isoscalar components of neutron-proton pairing in the fp-shell of N=Z unstable nuclei were investigated using the (p, He-3) two-nucleon transfer reaction. By combining particle and gamma-ray detection with radioactive beams, the study was carried out for the first time in both closed and open-shell nuclei in the fp-shell. The results suggest the presence of a superfluid phase in the isovector channel based on the enhanced ground-state to ground-state pair transfer cross-section in Fe-52.

Summary: AGATA, a new generation high-resolution gamma-ray spectrometer, has been used for nuclear structure studies based on experiments utilizing the principle of gamma-ray tracking. These studies allow selective spectroscopic investigations of stable and unstable nuclei, providing insights into nuclear structure issues and motivating new theoretical developments. The future perspectives of further gamma-ray spectroscopy with more advanced phases of AGATA are also discussed.
