Irreversibility analysis of hybrid nanofluid flow over a rotating disk: Effect of thermal radiation and magnetic field

Mahesh Kumar et al.

Summary: This study numerically examines the thermally radiative incompressible flow of hybrid nanofluid on a rotating disk under the influence of an external magnetic field, analyzing the transport of heat qualitatively and quantitatively. The results show that higher magnetic parameters and slip factors lead to decreased radial and tangential velocities, while increasing fractional volume decreases fluid velocity and increasing magnetic and radiation parameters lead to thicker thermal boundary layers and higher fluid temperatures. The research suggests that the developed modeling framework can effectively analyze fluid flow and heat transfer in turbomachinery and high-end heat transfer applications.

Flow and heat over a rotating disk subject to a uniform horizontal magnetic field

Mustafa Turkyilmazoglu

Summary: This study investigates the application of a horizontal uniform magnetic field in stabilizing the flow field and its effects on the energy equation. With the help of traditional von Karman similarity transformations, a similarity system of equations is derived, and the development of velocity and temperature fields under the magnetic field is numerically investigated. The existence of exact series solutions using decaying exponential functions is discussed, and the critical roles of the horizontal magnetic field on physical quantities are highlighted.

Summary: A new active volumetric receiver prototype was used in this study to evaluate its thermal performance. Numerical and experimental investigations were conducted on the rotating disk cooling and convective heat transfer from the disks to a crossflow of air. The results show promising thermal performance of the lab-scale receiver and a potential improvement in efficiency compared to existing volumetric receivers.

Summary: This study investigates the influence of the lid-driven top wall and the waviness of the side walls on the mixed convection heat transfer, flow behavior, and entropy generation of a hybrid nanofluid. The results show that the magnetic force plays a significant role in the thermal and flow behavior of the working fluid, and the undulation number of the wavy side walls has a strong impact on the heat transfer rate and irreversibility.

Heat transfer in steady slip flow of tangent hyperbolic fluid over the lubricated surface of a stretchable rotatory disk

Usman et al.

Summary: The study investigates the steady slip flow and heat transfer of tangent hyperbolic fluid over a lubricating surface of the stretchable rotatory disk, considering the effects of MHD, nonlinear radiation, and non-uniform heat source/sink subject to nonlinear boundary conditions. The results show that with enhanced slip at the interface and Weissenberg number, radial and azimuthal velocities increase near the disk, while the power-law index exhibits two different trends. Additionally, temperature rises with the radiation parameter, particularly prominently for nonlinear radiation.

Unsteady MHD flow due to eccentric rotations of a porous disk and an oscillating fluid at infinity

Zahid Hussain

Summary: In this study, an exact solution of time dependent Navier-Stokes equations considering the flow due to eccentric rotations of a porous disk and an oscillating fluid at infinity under the influence of a uniform magnetic field was constructed using Laplace transform technique. The shear stress components in the fluid and on the disk were obtained, and the analytical solution of the proposed problem was derived. Three different cases based on the relationship between angular velocity and oscillation frequency were investigated, and the impacts of various parameters on velocity profiles were highlighted and discussed through graphs. The results obtained in this work recover existing results as a limiting case.
