Ethnoveterinary Medicine and Ethnopharmacology in the Main Transhumance Areas of Castilla-La Mancha (Spain)

Diego Rivera et al.

Summary: In this study, the practices of ethnoveterinary medicine and ethnopharmacology on traditional transhumance routes in Castilla La Mancha were documented. Over 200 interviews were conducted, involving 210 informants, and 63 recorded pathologies and their treatments were discussed. The majority of the recorded species and substances were plants, and some toxic plant species were reservoirs of pathogens or markers for dangerous areas. Control of endo- and ectoparasites, mainly through aromatic plants, was a key focus of the study.

Human Wildlife Conflict and Impacts on Livelihood: A Study in Community Forestry System in Mid-Hills of Nepal

Kedar Baral et al.

Summary: Human wildlife conflict has a significant impact on the economic livelihood of rural communities in Nepal, particularly through predation on livestock and crop damage. Predators such as leopards and golden jackals are prominent, while crop raiders like rhesus monkeys contribute to agricultural losses. The lack of natural prey and a reduction in distance between wildlife habitats and human settlements may exacerbate HWC incidents.
