Risk factors of falls in elderly patients with visual impairment

Incidence of accidental falls and development of a fall risk prediction model among elderly patients with diabetes mellitus: A prospective cohort study

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the incidence of accidental falls in elderly patients with diabetes mellitus and develop a fall risk prediction tool. A total of 1007 elderly patients with diabetes were followed up for 6 months, and it was found that diabetic peripheral neuropathy, walking aids, depression, fall history, fatigue, and sex were independent predictors of accidental falls in this population. A fall risk prediction nomogram was developed based on these factors. This study provides evidence for safety management among elderly Chinese patients diagnosed with diabetes.

A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Prognostic Nomograms After UTUC Surgery

Summary: The systematic review identified and compared nomograms predicting oncologic outcomes in postoperative upper tract urothelial carcinoma patients. The nomograms showed moderate to good discrimination accuracy, but there was significant heterogeneity. Pathological tumor stage was the most reliable predictor. Further research is needed for external validation and assessment of clinical utility to make the nomograms more applicable.

Development and Validation of a Nomogram for Assessing Survival in Patients With COVID-19 Pneumonia

Summary: Through a study of 628 confirmed cases of COVID-19, it was found that hypertension, neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio, and NT-proBNP values were significantly associated with the in-hospital prognosis of patients. The predictive model and nomogram constructed showed good performance in both training and validation cohorts, indicating potential clinical utility in the management of COVID-19.

A U-shaped relationship was observed between sleep duration and fracture risk, with the lowest risk found at 7-8 hours of sleep per day. Excessive daytime sleepiness and evening chronotype were associated with fracture risk in observational studies, but this association was not confirmed in Mendelian randomization analyses.
