Trends and projections of caesarean section rates: global and regional estimates

Ana Pilar Betran et al.

Summary: The global cesarean section rate has been steadily increasing since 1990, with projections showing continued rise by 2030. Southern Asia and sub-Saharan Africa are expected to face a complex scenario involving unmet need, overuse, resource drainage, and avoidable morbidity and mortality. Comprehensive action is needed to address this global priority in order to achieve Sustainable Development Goals.

Magnitude and Determinants of Immediate Adverse Neonatal Outcomes Among Babies Born by Cesarean Section in Public Hospitals in Harari Region, Eastern Ethiopia

Yasir Younis Abdullahi et al.

Summary: The study aimed to determine the magnitude and determinants of immediate adverse neonatal outcomes among babies born by cesarean section in public hospitals in the Harari region. Factors such as estimated household income, antenatal care, medical history, indication for delivery, meconium presence, low birth weight, and respiratory depression at birth were identified as predictors for adverse outcomes. It is recommended to assess women's previous clinical and obstetric conditions during antenatal care to prevent immediate adverse neonatal outcomes after birth.
