The Significance of Perfusion-Weighted Magnetic Resonance Imaging in Evaluating the Pathological Biological Activity of Cerebral Alveolar Echinococcosis

Fei Wang et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the value of perfusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging in assessing the biological activity of cerebral alveolar echinococcosis. The results showed that perfusion parameters were different among different areas and were significantly correlated with microvessel density and maximum standardized uptake value. Perfusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging can be used to dynamically reflect the neovascularization of CAE lesions.

18F-FDG-PET/MR in Alveolar Echinococcosis: Multiparametric Imaging in a Real-World Setting

Nina Eberhardt et al.

Summary: This study retrospectively analyzed 51 AE patients who underwent 18F-FDG-PET/MR and found that FDG uptake plays an important role in evaluating treatment response and different disease manifestations. PET/MR combines metabolic information and MRI morphology, making it suitable for AE assessment at a low radiation dose.

Strongyloidiasis in a Patient Diagnosed by Metagenomic Next-Generation Sequencing: A Case Report

Junyan Qu et al.

Summary: This case report presents a case of strongyloidiasis in a Chinese male patient diagnosed using metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS). The study highlights the potential of mNGS in detecting uncommon infectious diseases and emphasizes the importance of raising awareness of strongyloidiasis in non-endemic areas.

Molecular diagnosis of alveolar echinococcosis in patients based on frozen and formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue samples

Jenny Knapp et al.

Summary: Confirmed diagnosis of alveolar echinococcosis (AE) relies on pathological criteria and molecular evidence. This study evaluated various PCR techniques for the diagnosis of AE in patients and identified the most effective strategy for molecular diagnosis based on the nature of the tested samples. The results showed that a qPCR assay targeting mitochondrial genes exhibited higher sensitivity in detecting AE samples.

Case Report: Fascioliasis Hepatica Precisely Diagnosed by Metagenomic Next-Generation Sequencing and Treated With Albendazole

Yaling Zhang et al.

Summary: Clinical manifestations of human fascioliasis hepatica are nonspecific and often misdiagnosed as malignant tumors. A case study of a 43-year-old woman with fever and space-occupying liver disease identified Fasciola hepatica through metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS), with significant lesion absorption after treatment with albendazole for over 7 months. Timely use of mNGS can help identify parasites and evaluate therapeutic effects in clinical decision-making.
