Cosmological effects of Peccei-Quinn symmetry breaking on QCD axion dark matter

Kwang Sik Jeong et al.

Summary: We study the impact of explicit Peccei-Quinn breaking on the cosmological effects of QCD axion dark matter. It is found that the axion abundance significantly decreases or increases depending on the initial position. The trapping mechanism can lead to an increase in axion abundance, while the adiabatic suppression mechanism can reduce it.

A trail of dark-matter-free galaxies from a bullet-dwarf collision

Pieter van Dokkum et al.

Summary: The ultra-diffuse galaxies DF2 and DF4 in the NGC 1052 group share several unusual properties and may have formed in the aftermath of high-velocity collisions of gas-rich galaxies. They are part of a trail of dark-matter-free galaxies that formed from the same event.

Cosmology intertwined: A review of the particle physics, astrophysics, and cosmology associated with the cosmological tensions and anomalies

Elcio Abdalla et al.

Summary: The paper discusses the limitations of the standard Lambda Cold Dark Matter (Lambda CDM) cosmological model and proposes new physics models to alleviate the tensions in various cosmological measurements. The authors emphasize the importance of considering a wide range of data and discuss the significance of upcoming experiments and space missions in addressing open questions in cosmology.

A Comprehensive Measurement of the Local Value of the Hubble Constant with 1 km s-1 Mpc-1 Uncertainty from the Hubble Space Telescope and the SH0ES Team

Adam G. Riess et al.

Summary: This study reports observations of Cepheid variables in the host galaxies of 42 Type Ia supernovae (SNe Ia) using the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) to calibrate the Hubble constant (H (0)). The observations were collected over four decades and significantly improved the precision of the direct determination of H (0). The study presented multiple verifications of Cepheid photometry and explored different analysis variants to assess the sensitivity of H (0) determination. The baseline result for H (0) was found to be 73.04 +/- 1.04 km s(-1) Mpc(-1).

Summary: Current cosmological probes have confirmed the standard A Cold Dark Matter cosmological model with unprecedented accuracy, but tensions between different independent cosmological datasets have emerged. These tensions may indicate issues with the standard cosmological scenario and the potential need for new physics.

In the realm of the Hubble tension-a review of solutions *

Eleonora Di Valentino et al.

Summary: There are significant discrepancies in predictions of the Hubble constant, leading to various proposed solutions including new physics theories or modifications to existing cosmological models. Some solutions successfully reduce tension and improve agreement with data, while many others fail to do so, highlighting the need for further research and evidence.

Why reducing the cosmic sound horizon alone can not fully resolve the Hubble tension

Karsten Jedamzik et al.

Summary: The Hubble tension, a discrepancy between the locally measured expansion rate of the universe and that inferred from the cosmic microwave background measurements, has become a pressing issue in cosmology. Various modifications to the ΛCDM model have been proposed to address this tension, but models that only reduce the sound horizon r(*) cannot fully resolve the issue while remaining consistent with other cosmological datasets.
