Determinant of Covariance Matrix Model Coupled with AdaBoost Classification Algorithm for EEG Seizure Detection

Hanan Al-Hadeethi et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a Covariance Matrix Determinant (Cov-Det) model to reduce the dimensionality of electroencephalogram (EEG) and assist clinicians in accurately diagnosing epilepsy. The EEG signals are segmented using a sliding window technique and Cov-Det is applied to each interval. Statistical features are extracted and Kolmogorov-Smirnov and Mann-Whitney U tests are used to eliminate redundant features. The selected features are classified using AdaBoost Back-Propagation neural network (AB_BP_NN). Experimental results show that the proposed method achieves significant improvement in accurately classifying epileptic signals.
