Creating wealth from waste: An approach for converting organic waste in to value-added products using microbial consortia

Dantroliya Sadik et al.

Summary: In the current scenario, there is a strong emphasis on the recovery, recycling, and reconditioning of organic solid waste. This study focuses on the bioconversion of municipal vegetable waste into value-added products. The solid fraction of the waste was subjected to biodegradation with different microbial consortia, resulting in the extraction of various enzymes. The remaining solid material was converted into animal feed, while the liquid fraction was used for growing bio-fertilizer strains. The study demonstrates the successful bioconversion of vegetable waste into enzymes, animal feed, compost, and liquid biofertilizer.
