Understanding the Effect of Bid Quantities, Project Characteristics, and Project Locations on the Duration of Road Transportation Construction Projects during Early Stages

Guillermo Nevett et al.

Summary: Creating accurate estimates for the duration of road transportation projects is challenging, and a lack of understanding of the factors driving such durations adds to the difficulty. This paper expands on previous research efforts by combining all project sizes and types into one model with additional variables to increase explanatory power. The aim is to determine which variables best predict project durations.

Life Cycle Cost Analysis Comparison of Hot Mix Asphalt and Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement: A Case Study

Waqas Rafiq et al.

Summary: In this study, it was found that using 20% RAP in the region could result in a 14% reduction in total life cycle costs compared to conventional materials, with a 57% cost reduction observed for a RAP manufacturing plant. No significant cost differences were observed between RAP and traditional materials in terms of labor, material transportation, and construction activities.
