Mechanistic insight of weak magnetic field trigger transformation of amorphous Fe(III)-(oxy)hydroxide for enhanced ferrate (VI) towards selective removal of natural organic matter

Guang Yang et al.

Summary: This study investigated the regulation of Fe-hydroxyl formation during ferrate oxidation and hydrolysis, which is important for the adsorption of natural organic matter (NOM). The results showed that a weak magnetic field (WMF) accelerated the removal of NOM by promoting the reactions rate constants. The WMF enhanced the formation of amorphous Fe-hydroxide and ferrihydrite, which had high surface activity and removed pollutants through adsorption and co-precipitation.

Kinetics and mechanism of 4-methylbenzylidene camphor degradation by UV-activated persulfate oxidation

Sung-Chuan Hsieh et al.

Summary: The combination of UV light and persulfate can significantly remove 4-MBC, with a pseudo-first-order rate constant. The persulfate dose and k(obs) exhibited a linear proportional relationship, and the degradation rate significantly decreased at pH 9.
