Taxonomic and biological characterization and predatory activity of four nematophagous fungi isolates of Arthrobotrys species from Tapachula, Chiapas, Mexico

In Vitro Nematocidal Properties from Two Extracts: Lippia graveolens Leaves and Delonix regia Flowers Against Eggs and Infective Larvae of Haemonchus contortus

Summary: The study demonstrated that hydroalcoholic extracts from Lippia graveolens leaves and Delonix regia flowers have strong ovicidal and larvicidal effects against the parasitic nematode Haemonchus contortus. The EtOAc-F fractions showed the most promising anthelmintic effects, suggesting their potential as candidates for controlling gastrointestinal nematodes in small ruminants. The chemical analysis revealed the presence of alkaloids, flavonoids, condensed tannins, terpenes, and saponins in both plant species.

Summary: Gastrointestinal nematodes (GINs) are parasites that threaten livestock yields and the agricultural industry worldwide. The high frequency of anthelmintic resistance among GINs has prompted the search for sustainable alternatives. Biological controls based on predatory fungi and ovicidal fungi are promising alternatives to chemical controls, but have limitations. Combining multiple fungi or fungi with chemical controls has become popular to minimize recurring infections or disrupt the life cycle of GINs.

Toxicity of ivermectin residues in aged farmyard manure to terrestrial and freshwater invertebrates

Summary: The study found that aged cattle manure contaminated with the endectocide ivermectin was highly toxic to freshwater invertebrates and had a detrimental impact on above-ground insects and soil fauna. Increasing resistance to multiple anthelmintic classes in gastrointestinal nematodes on sheep farms in southwest England

Summary: This study investigated the resistance of gastrointestinal nematodes to anthelmintics on multiple farms in North Devon, England in 2016. The results showed that there was resistance to three anthelmintic classes on average, and the prevalence of resistance was higher in 2016 compared to 2013. Haemonchus contortus, a type of nematode, was commonly found on the tested farms and showed resistance or suspected resistance to all tested anthelmintics. These findings highlight the diversity and progression of anthelmintic resistance and the challenges in detecting resistance in mixed-species infections.
