Canine filaria species in selected lymphatic filariasis endemic and non-endemic areas in Sri Lanka

Sameera Rathnayake et al.

Summary: Subperiodic brugian filariasis and dirofilariasis are on the rise in Sri Lanka, posing a threat to public health. This study provides important insights into the prevalence and genetic variability of filarial parasites among dog populations in LF endemic and non-endemic regions in Sri Lanka.

The Course of Brugia malayi Microfilaremia in Experimentally Infected Cats

Christopher C. Evans et al.

Summary: Brugia malayi, a causative agent of lymphatic filariasis, is a valuable laboratory model for studying infection, especially in cats with varying levels of microfilaremia. This study followed the course of B. malayi infection in 10 experimentally infected cats, identifying potential cellular predictors of patency. While no strong relationships were found, cell values appeared to shift with the maturation phases of the parasite, reflecting the controlled conditions of this laboratory model.
