Mechanism of a novel mechanically operated contactless HTS energy converter

Chao Li et al.

Summary: A novel mechanically operated HTS energy converter has been proposed in this study, utilizing the electromagnetic coupling of a permanent magnet and an HTS coil to efficiently convert mechanical energy to electromagnetic energy. Despite theoretical controversies surrounding its working mechanism, experimental results have validated its feasibility.

Origin of the anomalous electromechanical interaction between a moving magnetic dipole and a closed superconducting loop

Hongye Zhang et al.

Summary: Lenz's law states that the current induced in a circuit opposes the change in magnetic field. However, recent experiments have shown that the interaction between a moving permanent magnet and a closed superconducting loop can violate Lenz's law, as the induced current in the loop stays in the same direction throughout the process. This anomalous phenomenon may have potential applications in superconducting magnetic energy storage, electromagnetic ejection, and flux pumps. The cause of this phenomenon is still controversial.

Further study of a novel inductive SFCL for multiterminal HVDC systems

Chao Yang et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a novel inductive DC superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) to effectively address the short-circuit fault current in multiterminal HVDC systems. The SFCL presents low impedance, enables smooth reclosing operation, and has an adjustable current limiting threshold. Experimental results have verified the principle and functional ability of the SFCL.

Dynamic modelling methodology for an HTS energy converter using moving mesh

Gengyao Li et al.

Summary: A dynamic modelling method based on the H-formulation and moving mesh has been proposed to simulate the electromagnetic performance of the HTS energy converter accurately. The model's validity has been verified by experimental results and effects of different parameters of the energy converter have been investigated in detail to provide further insight into the design and applications of the device.
