Integrated techno-economic-environmental design of off-grid microgrid model for rural power supply in India

Pawan Kumar Kushwaha et al.

Summary: The non-availability and unreliable power supply from the grid greatly impacts the socio-economic development of rural areas in India. This research proposes a techno-economic-environmental (TEE) design of an off-grid microgrid (OGM) to improve power reliability in rural villages. The slime mould algorithm (SMA) is used for optimization, and the results are compared with the PSO algorithm. The optimal OGM model, consisting of solar photovoltaic, wind turbine, diesel generators, methanol generator, battery, and converter, is determined based on TEE aspects. The results show that the SMA outperforms the PSO in terms of TEE parameters, capacity to find the global optimum, and computational time.
