Modification of Xanthan Gum for a High-Temperature and High-Salinity Reservoir

Mohamed Said et al.

Summary: This study aimed to modify xanthan gum to improve its viscosity for high-temperature and high-salinity reservoirs. By reacting xanthan gum with acrylic acid, xanthan acrylate was formed and shown to have improved viscosity at elevated temperatures. Using core flooding experiments, it was found that xanthan acrylate was more effective at boosting tertiary oil recovery in sandstone cores compared to original xanthan gum.

The Role of Microbial Products in Green Enhanced Oil Recovery: Acetone and Butanone

Bashirul Haq

Summary: The study investigates the microbial enhanced oil recovery process in green enhanced oil recovery technology, which effectively increases oil production by altering properties like interfacial tension and capillary force. The experimental results demonstrate that acetone and butanone green SP formulations have significant oil recovery effects in sandstone reservoirs.
