A Levy Flight motivated meta-heuristic approach for enhancing maximum loadability limit in practical power system

Debanjan Mukherjee et al.

Summary: Most practical engineering optimization problems are highly nonlinear and nonconvex, making it difficult for traditional optimization techniques to find optimal solutions. Population-based meta-heuristic techniques have gained popularity for their ability to handle the nature of these problems. A new Levy Flight based Adaptive Particle Swarm Optimization technique is proposed to overcome these challenges and is shown to outperform other PSO variants in various tests.

Performance evolution of different controllers for frequency regulation of a hybrid energy power system employing chaotic crow search algorithm

Dipayan Guha et al.

Summary: This paper compares the performance of different optimized controllers in the frequency regulation of a hybrid energy distributed power system (HEDPS). The authors propose a crow search algorithm with chaotic mapping to fine-tune the controller settings. Through extensive analysis, they confirm the superiority of the CC-TID controller and demonstrate the tuning competence of the adopted algorithm.

A comprehensive analysis of grid-based wind turbine layout using an efficient binary invasive weed optimization algorithm with levy flight

Ismail Koc

Summary: Wind energy has gained significant attention in recent years due to the growing demand for alternative energy sources. This study focuses on optimizing the layout of wind turbines in wind farms using a grid-based approach. The study proposes novel grid sizes and a repair operator to ensure feasibility of the solutions. Additionally, a levy flight-based IWO algorithm is developed for layout optimization. Experimental comparisons show that the proposed algorithm outperforms the traditional IWO algorithm in terms of solution quality, with the 19 x 19 grid achieving the best success rate.

Multi objective dragonfly algorithm for congestion management in deregulated power systems

C. Saravanan et al.

Summary: The paper discusses the major bother of congestion in transmission corridors for deregulated power system operation, and proposes a multi-objective congestion management procedure that aims to improve/retain power system security and reduce congestion costs by rescheduling active power. The method combines the Multi Objective Dragonfly Algorithm (MODA) and fuzzy decision-making principle, proving to be effective in experiments for congestion alleviation in the New England 39 bus systems.

Optimal Operation of Energy Hubs With Large-Scale Distributed Energy Resources for Distribution Network Congestion Management

Junjie Hu et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the complementarity of multiple energy resources in energy hubs to solve possible distribution network congestions. An optimal operation strategy of multiple energy hubs enables gas-to-electricity to provide local energy supply for EH during electricity peak periods, and consume renewable energy generation by the complementarity of electricity, heat and cooling. The proposed operation strategy explores EHs' operation flexibility to mitigate distribution network congestion when considering high renewable energy penetration.
