Hierarchical distributed multi-energy demand response for coordinated operation of building clusters

Summary: This paper proposes a distributed multi-energy demand response methodology for optimal coordinated operation of smart building clusters. The proposed method utilizes a hierarchical framework and information exchange between aggregators and buildings to achieve optimal multi-energy coordination. By dynamically correcting and optimizing the approach, the impact of prediction uncertainties is reduced. Experimental results demonstrate the superiority of the proposed methodology in solving the optimal synergistic operation problem of smart buildings.

Summary: This paper presents a flexibility oriented stochastic scheduling framework to evaluate the short-term reliability and economic performance of islanded microgrids (MGs) under different incentive-based demand response (IBDR) programs. The proposed model takes into account multi-period islanding constraints, multi-segment optimal power flow (OPF) approach, and uncertainties associated with electricity prices, loads, renewable generation, reserve calls, and islanding duration. The numerical results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed model in improving the economic and reliability indices of MGs.

Progress on the demand side management in smart grid and optimization approaches

Summary: The integration of demand side management with smart grid can promote residents' transition into smart homes and sustainable cities by reducing carbon emissions. Previous literature has shown that DSM practice can effectively reduce energy costs and carbon emissions, but challenges in SG implementation include security, privacy, tariff regulation, energy transmission, distribution, and effective energy resource utilization. Various international organizations have taken measures to ensure the security and privacy of DSM in SG, and hybrid algorithms have shown better performance in optimizing DSM problems compared to single algorithms. Overall, the paper highlights research gaps and future directions in this field.
