Applying novel eco-exergoenvironmental toxicity index to select the best irrigation system of sunflower production

Summary: The goal of this study is to create a novel eco-exergoenvironmental toxicity index to identify the most sustainable irrigation system for sunflower production in Kurdistan, Iran. The results show that drip irrigation has better environmental conditions compared to surface irrigation, with nitrogen being the dominant factor in all aspects. The eco-efficiency of drip irrigation is higher than that of surface irrigation, making it a more environmentally friendly option.

Summary: A study on 200 paddy farms in Iran found that the eco-efficiency of organic farming systems is higher and positively associated with yield, while the eco-efficiency of conventional and limited input systems is positively correlated with impacts on terrestrial ecosystems but lower in other aspects.

Exergoenvironmental damages assessment of horticultural crops using ReCiPe2016 and cumulative exergy demand frameworks

Summary: This study evaluated the environmental impacts of horticultural crops under different cropping systems in Guilan province of Iran using the life cycle assessment (LCA) method and CExD analysis. The findings showed that hazelnut production has the highest emissions and energy consumption among all studied crops, while citrus production has the lowest environmental impacts. It is suggested to cultivate citrus for more sustainable horticultural production.

Multi-objective optimization of energy use and environmental emissions for walnut production using imperialist competitive algorithm

Summary: The study focuses on the energy flow and environmental emissions of walnut orchards in Alborz province of Iran, aiming to optimize them through a multi-objective imperialist competitive algorithm. Results show energy inefficiency in walnut production, with gasoline being the dominant energy consumer. Environmental findings indicate on-orchard emissions and gasoline as the main hotspots.

Prospects of solar systems in production chain of sunflower oil using cold press method with concentrating energy and life cycle assessment

Summary: The study aimed to determine the exergoenvironmental efficiency of using solar technologies in sunflower oil production in Iran. Results showed that the photovoltaic scenario was the most environmentally friendly. The majority of energy consumption occurred in the agricultural phase, with electricity having the highest share of total energy consumption.
