Extension of Solanaceae Food Crops Shelf Life by the Use of Elicitors and Sustainable Practices During Postharvest Phase

Dora dos S. Costa et al.

Summary: This review focuses on the use of elicitors of plant defense for shelf life extension of Solanaceae food crops, providing an overview of worldwide production and losses, as well as key points on the mechanisms of plant colonization by pathogens and induced resistance in hosts. Despite some increase, further research is needed to fully understand the mechanisms and applicability of plant elicitors.

MSD2, an apoplastic Mn-SOD, contributes to root skotomorphogenic growth by modulating ROS distribution in Arabidopsis

Huize Chen et al.

Summary: Reactive oxygen species (ROS) play essential roles in plant physiological processes and can have both beneficial and harmful effects. This study identified a putative manganese SOD, MSD2, which is secreted and regulates ROS metabolism in the roots, thereby influencing root growth and development.

Overexpression of StCDPK23 promotes wound healing of potato tubers by regulating StRbohs

Li Ma et al.

Summary: StCDPK23 is significantly induced at potato tuber wounds and regulates StRbohs to promote ROS production and suberin deposition during healing. The overexpression of StCDPK23 in tubers results in increased expression levels of StRbohs and enhanced production of O-2(-) and H2O2 during healing process.

Chitooligosaccharide Maintained Cell Membrane Integrity by Regulating Reactive Oxygen Species Homeostasis at Wounds of Potato Tubers during Healing

Pengdong Xie et al.

Summary: This study found that chitooligosaccharide (COS) can enhance the resistance of potato tubers during wound healing by regulating reactive oxygen species metabolism. COS maintains cell membrane integrity by eliminating excessive H2O2 and improving antioxidant capacity.

The Interaction Between StCDPK14 and StRbohB Contributes to Benzo-(1,2,3)-Thiadiazole-7-Carbothioic Acid S-Methyl Ester-Induced Wound Healing of Potato Tubers by Regulating Reactive Oxygen Species Generation

Li Ma et al.

Summary: The production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) plays a crucial role in physiological processes and plant responses to environmental stress. This study investigated the involvement of calcium-dependent protein kinases (CDPKs) in ROS generation induced by benzo-(1, 2, 3)-thiadiazole-7-carbothioic acid S-methyl ester (BTH) during wound healing of potato tubers. The results showed that StCDPK14, one of the StCDPKs significantly induced by BTH treatment, plays a key role in ROS generation by interacting with StRbohB during wound healing processes.
