The PRIDE database resources in 2022: a hub for mass spectrometry-based proteomics evidences

Yasset Perez-Riverol et al.

Summary: PRIDE is the largest data repository of mass spectrometry-based proteomics data in the world, with around 500 datasets submitted per month. In addition to continuous improvements in data pipelines and infrastructure, PRIDE has developed the Spectra Archive and MAGE-TAB file format to enhance sample metadata annotation and access to mass spectra.

DIAPH1 regulates chromosomal instability of cancer cells by controlling microtubule dynamics

Shumin Miao et al.

Summary: DIAPH1 plays a crucial role in regulating spindle MT-dynamics and chromosomal instability in colorectal cancer cells, with its down-regulation leading to increased misalignment and missegregation of chromosomes. This study highlights the importance of DIAPH1 in controlling cellular processes associated with aneuploidy.

A ten N6-methyladenosine-related long non-coding RNAs signature predicts prognosis of triple-negative breast cancer

Jie Wu et al.

Summary: This study identified ten independent m6A-related LncRNAs in TNBC and established a prognostic score risk model. Results showed that the PS model had good prognostic abilities in predicting overall survival of TNBC patients. These LncRNAs may serve as potential biomarkers for predicting the prognostic risk of TNBC.

Elevated XRCC5 expression level can promote temozolomide resistance and predict poor prognosis in glioblastoma

I-Neng Lee et al.

Summary: The study identified XRCC5 as a gene that enhances TMZ cytotoxicity, with XRCC5 mRNA expression levels associated with clinical deterioration and lower overall survival rates. Knockdown of XRCC5 significantly increased TMZ sensitivity in GBM cells, while overexpression of XRCC5 caused resistance to TMZ in cancer cells. In vitro and in vivo experiments showed that TMZ treatment induced expression of XRCC5 in TMZ-resistant cells, suggesting XRCC5 as a potential target for GBM treatment and a diagnostic marker for refractory GBM.

Very long-chain fatty acids are accumulated in triacylglycerol and nonesterified forms in colorectal cancer tissues

Kotaro Hama et al.

Summary: This study found that VLCFA accumulated in TAG and nonesterified forms in CRC tissues, with levels of VLCFA-TAG significantly correlated with the expression of ELOVL1. Inhibition of ELOVL1 decreased levels of VLCFA-TAG and nonesterified VLCFA, suggesting that upregulation of ELOVL1 contributes to the accumulation of VLCFA in CRC tissues.

Annexin A1 Expression Is Associated with Epithelial-Mesenchymal Transition (EMT), Cell Proliferation, Prognosis, and Drug Response in Pancreatic Cancer

Masanori Oshi et al.

Summary: ANXA1 is overexpressed in pancreatic cancer and associated with cell proliferation, survival, and drug response. High ANXA1 expression is associated with specific cell types in the tumor microenvironment and multiple malignant gene sets.

NUCB1 Suppresses Growth and Shows Additive Effects With Gemcitabine in Pancreatic Ductal Adenocarcinoma via the Unfolded Protein Response

Yong-Qiang Hua et al.

Summary: The study revealed that downregulation of NUCB1 in PDAC patients is associated with poor prognosis, while overexpression of NUCB1 can suppress pancreatic cancer cell proliferation and enhance the effects of gemcitabine. NUCB1 overexpression also inhibits autophagy by controlling ATF6 activity, and METTL3-mediated m(6)A modification is identified as a mechanism for NUCB1 downregulation in PDAC.

Peroxisomal ABC Transporters: An Update

Ali Tawbeh et al.

Summary: ABC transporters play important roles in peroxisomes and are involved in various physiological processes, including lipid transport and disease development. Defects in ABCD1 and ABCD3 can lead to two common genetic disorders, with peroxisomal ABC transporters also playing crucial roles in cell signaling and cancer.

Identification and validation of the clinical roles of the VHL-related LncRNAs in clear cell renal cell carcinoma

Wuping Yang et al.

Summary: This study identified 10 VHL-related lncRNAs in ccRCC tissues and revealed their down-regulation. High expression of these lncRNAs was associated with longer overall and disease free survival, with FGD5-AS1 showing potential as a novel biomarker for ccRCC. Additionally, DNA hypermethylation was implicated in the decreased expression of FGD5-AS1.
