Effects of Surface Polarity on the Structure and Magnetic Properties of Co Implanted and Co-Sm Co-Implanted Polar ZnO Films

Qian Li et al.

Summary: This study presents a comprehensive experimental and theoretical investigation on the effects of surface polarity on the structure and ferromagnetic properties of Co and Co-Sm co-implanted polar ZnO films. The results show that O-polar ZnO exhibits stronger ferromagnetism, possibly due to the combination of more oxygen vacancies and larger local moments related to Co and Sm doping.

Aminolytic Depolymerization of Polyethylene Terephthalate Wastes Using Sn-Doped ZnO Nanoparticles

Viswanathan Vinitha et al.

Summary: Poly(ethylene terephthalate) is widely used polymer due to its excellent properties, but the disposal of PET waste is a global environmental issue. Chemical recycling using Sn-doped ZnO catalyst has been studied for complete depolymerization of PET waste. The catalytic activity was evaluated by synthesizing Sn-doped ZnO nanoparticles and testing the aminolysis depolymerization. The results showed that higher doping percentages of Sn led to increased yield of depolymerized product BHETA.

Non-polar a-plane oriented ZnO:Al thin films for optoelectronic applications

Prasad Kumar et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the fabrication of aluminum-doped zinc oxide thin films at different laser ablation fluences and analyzes their structural, optical, and electrical properties. The thin films prepared at 35 J/cm2 fluence exhibit the highest transmittance (>86%) and the lowest resistivity, with a remarkable switching behavior from p-type to n-type semiconductivity. The non-polar a-plane oriented AZO thin film shows promising optoelectronic properties for LED device fabrication.

Glycolysis of Poly(Ethylene Terephthalate) Using Biomass-Waste Derived Recyclable Heterogeneous Catalyst

Samson Lalhmangaihzuala et al.

Summary: In this study, a biomass-waste-derived heterogeneous catalyst was prepared from waste orange peel for the depolymerisation of PET to its monomer, BHET. The catalyst showed excellent catalytic performance, depolymerising PET within 90 minutes and producing 79% recrystallised BHET. The ability to reuse the catalyst for multiple cycles without significant loss of activity and its environmentally-friendly nature make it a promising green route for PET recycling.

Monica Andrea Vargas et al.

Summary: Nanoparticles of zinc oxide and MgO-doped zinc oxide were successfully synthesized using the Pechini polymer precursor method. The doping altered the nanoparticles' morphology and optical properties, affecting their capability to remove pollutant molecules. Specifically, ZnO particles doped with 2% Mg demonstrated the highest efficiency in removing methyl orange, with a removal percentage of approximately 73% after 2 hours of testing.

The Impact of Biodegradable Plastics in the Properties of Recycled Polyethylene Terephthalate

Miguel Aldas et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the feasibility of identifying biodegradable polymers as contaminants in the recycling process of PET. Despite good miscibility between PET-PLA and PET-PHB, PHB degraded due to high processing temperatures. Biodegradable contaminants were found to reduce the mechanical properties of recycled PET even after 1 year of storage.
