Summary: This study investigated the environmental evolution and provenance of sediments in Northwestern Liaodong Bay since 1.2 million years ago. The research found evidence of three large-scale transgressions from the Late Middle Pleistocene to the Holocene, originating mainly from the Yellow River, Liaohe River, and Daliao River. The results suggest a different sedimentary history compared to previous understandings, providing valuable insights into the Late Quaternary deposits of the Bohai Sea.
