Sustainable Biochar and/or Melatonin Improve Salinity Tolerance in Borage Plants by Modulating Osmotic Adjustment, Antioxidants, and Ion Homeostasis

Saad Farouk et al.

Summary: Salinity is a crucial factor affecting agricultural sustainability in arid and semi-arid regions. This study explores the potential of using biochar and melatonin to mitigate the negative impacts of salt toxicity on borage plants. The results show that the addition of biochar and melatonin can improve plant water status, enhance osmotic adjustment capacity, and activate antioxidant responses, leading to increased growth and yield in salt-affected plants.

Foliar Application of Salicylic Acid to Mitigate Water Stress in Tomato

Eduardo Santana Aires et al.

Summary: The study aims to validate the use of salicylic acid (SA) under field conditions with low water availability. The results showed that the foliar application of SA can effectively mitigate the deleterious effects of water deficit on gas exchange and fruit production in tomato plants.

Increased soybean tolerance to water deficiency through biostimulant based on fulvic acids and Ascophyllum nodosum (L.) seaweed extract

Vanessa Rosario Rosa et al.

Summary: This study identified the most efficient biostimulant formulation and dosage in promoting soybean plant recovery after water deficit stress. The application of biostimulant led to increased plant growth, photosynthetic rates, and antioxidant enzyme activities, enhancing soybean tolerance to water deficit and reducing yield losses. The best results were achieved with formulation 2 of the biostimulant at a dosage of 0.25 kg ha(-1).
