Novel and highly efficient functionalized bentonite for elimination of Cu2+ and Cd2+ from aqueous wastes

Ralte Malsawmdawngzela et al.

Summary: This study successfully synthesized a novel functionalized material with high sorption capacity and selectivity for selective elimination of Cu2+ and Cd2+ from aqueous waste. The material exhibited high elimination efficiency under different pH, concentration, and background electrolyte conditions, and the presence of coexisting ions did not affect the removal of these toxic ions.

Adsorptive degradation of hexavalent chromium from aqueous solution using coconut shell as a green adsorbent

Dharmendra Kumar Bal et al.

Summary: This study aimed to remove heavy metal compounds from wastewater using coconut shells as a bio-sorbent for the removal of hexavalent chromium Cr(VI). The Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm models were found to be the best fit for the experimental data, with adsorption capacities of 16.39 and 12.19 mg/g, respectively. The adsorption process was determined to be feasible and endothermic.

Removal of Cu(II) from aqueous solutions using modified sewage sludge ash

S. Kul

Summary: The study aimed to determine Cu(II) adsorption from wastewater using modified sewage sludge ash as an adsorbent in laboratory conditions. The adsorption equilibrium was achieved in 10 minutes, with a maximum removal rate of 83.63%. The Langmuir isotherm model was determined to be the most suitable for Cu(II) adsorption, with adsorption kinetics following the pseudo-second-order model. The thermodynamic research results indicated that the adsorption process was spontaneous, endothermic, and reversible.
