Mass spectrometry in art conservation-With focus on paintings

Marek Smoluch et al.

Summary: Conservation of historic artifacts has always been a multidisciplinary field, but in recent years, scientific research has started to play a more crucial role. The introduction of new technologies has both opened up new perspectives and created the need for caution to avoid potential threats.

Quantitative GC-MS Analysis of Artificially Aged Paints with Variable Pigment and Linseed Oil Ratios

Eliise Tammekivi et al.

Summary: The pigment concentration significantly influences the drying process of oil paints. The commonly used P/S ratio varies greatly even with the same linseed oil in paints. Pigment concentration needs to be considered as another factor when characterising oil-based paint samples based on the lipid profile.
