Pavement crack detection and classification based on fusion feature of LBP and PCA with SVM

Cheng Chen et al.

Summary: This study proposed a new crack detection method based on LBP and SVM, which reduces dimensionality of LBP feature spaces using PCA and classifies crack types using SVM, improving detection accuracy. Experimental results with sub-blocks showed that the LBP-PCA with SVM algorithm accurately reflects the directional information of cracks, exhibiting high accuracy in transverse and longitudinal cracks.

Intelligent Crack Detection and Quantification in the Concrete Bridge: A Deep Learning-Assisted Image Processing Approach

Licun Yu et al.

Summary: We propose a modified concrete bridge crack detector based on a deep learning-assisted image processing approach. The method utilizes data augmentation technology to extend the limited dataset, with YOLOv5 used to detect the bounding box for the crack. The image covered by the bounding box is then processed using image processing techniques. Compared to traditional image processing-based methods, this approach achieves higher detection accuracy and lower computation cost.
