Evaluation of structural, dielectric and LPG gas sensing behavior of porous Ce3+- Sm3+ doped Cobalt nickel ferrite

K. M. Srinivasamurthy et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that CNCSF samples have nano-scale purity and crystallite size, with lattice parameters increasing with rare earth content and porous nature aiding in sensing response enhancement. The dielectric behavior is similar to conventional spinel ferrite structures, with CNCSF thin films showing excellent sensitivity to liquified petroleum gas, particularly x = 0.03 thin films which exhibited stable sensing response over a period of 60 days.

The Structure, Magnetic, and Gas Sensing Characteristics of W-Substituted Co-Ferrite Nanoparticles

Omar Abd-Elkader et al.

Summary: This article reports on the gas sensing abilities of Co-ferrite doped with W ions. Experimental results show that the introduction of W(VI) ions changes the magnetic properties and lattice structure of the CoFe2O4 material, and the material exhibits high sensitivity and selectivity for acetone gas sensing.

Improved LPG sensing properties of nickel doped cobalt ferrites derived from metallurgical wastes

Kamatchi Jothiramalingam Sankaran et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates an improved gas sensing response of nickel doped cobalt ferrite nanoparticles synthesized from metallurgical wastes, showing superior sensing behavior compared to undoped nanoparticles. The morphology and magnetic properties of the nanoparticles directly correlate with their superior sensing behavior, indicating a potential for developing efficient gas sensors from waste materials.

Chemiresistive Gas Sensing Properties of Copper Substituted Zinc Ferrite Thin Films Deposited by Spray Pyrolysis

S. B. Madake et al.

Summary: Gas sensors working at lower temperatures consume less energy. Transition metal oxides, such as copper substituted zinc ferrite thin films, have been developed as potential gas sensors. The study showed that 10% copper substitution in zinc ferrite thin film resulted in a higher gas response at a lower operating temperature.

Extremely sensitive and selective flammable liquefied hydrocarbon gas sensing and inter-dependence of fluctuating operating temperature and resistance: Perspective of rare-earth doped cobalt nanoferrites

Nolwazi N. Shozi et al.

Summary: This paper presents cobalt-based spinel ferrites doped with rare-earth ions for use as flammable gas sensors, showing that ferrites with low 4f electrons perform better in LPG detection but have lower photoluminescence intensity, while those with high 4f electrons have higher oxygen vacancies and adsorbed oxygen percentages. Temperature-dependent carrier-type transitions were observed in the ferrites, which exhibit p-type characteristics above 225 degrees C and n-type characteristics below.

Enhanced LPG sensing property of sol-gel synthesized ZnO nanoparticles-based gas sensors

A. Muthuvinayagam et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the effective use of HCl acid in the sol-gel method to prepare ZnO nanoparticles for a liquid petroleum gas sensor with enhanced sensitivity. The use of HCl acid as a solvent led to improved sensing performance compared to the commonly used DI water. The fabricated sensor showed enhanced sensitivity and stability in detecting LPG gas.
