Development of edible composite film based on chitosan nanoparticles and their application in packaging of fresh red sea bream fillets

Ran Zhao et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that the films containing cinnamon-perilla essential oil Pickering nanoemulsion had better mechanical properties, while films with anthocyanidins showed enhanced antioxidant activity. Preservation experiments revealed that the composite film with plant essential oil compound anthocyanidin had the best preservation effect on fillets.

Functional edible films/coatings integrated with lactoperoxidase and lysozyme and their application in food preservation

Wanli Zhang et al.

Summary: This review comprehensively examines the functional properties and applications of edible films/coatings containing LP and LY, discussing the use of biomacromolecules such as chitosan, alginate, whey protein, and gelatin in their preparation. Due to the safe, stable, and strong antimicrobial properties of LP and LY, these edible films/coatings are suitable for preserving various foods and can have a significant positive effect when used in combination with other food preservation methods or antioxidants.

The physiochemical and preservation properties of anthocyanidin/chitosan nanocomposite-based edible films containing cinnamon-perilla essential oil pickering nanoemulsions

Ran Zhao et al.

Summary: In this study, Pickering nanoemulsions with cinnamon-perilla essential oil were prepared using collagen as an emulsifier. The addition of these nanoemulsions significantly improved the physical properties of anthocyanidin/chitosan nanocomposite-based edible films. The incorporation of cinnamon-perilla essential oil enhanced the hydrophobicity, antioxidant activity, and effectiveness in preserving fish fillets.
