Synthesis and characterization of nano starch-based composite films from kidney bean (Phaseolus vulgaris)

Ishita Sharma et al.

Summary: This study aimed to synthesize and evaluate nano starch-based composite films by adding nano starch in film formulation at different concentrations. The results showed that the addition of nano starch led to significant improvements in the thickness, solubility, and burst strength of the composite films, while decreasing the moisture content and water vapor transmission rate.

Nanocomposites for Food Packaging Applications: An Overview

Jawad Sarfraz et al.

Summary: Nanocomposite materials offer improved physical properties, antimicrobial, and antioxidant capabilities for food packaging applications. Enhancements in polymer performance can be achieved by incorporating low concentrations of nanofillers. Considerations should also be given to migration issues, consumer acceptance, recyclability, and toxicity aspects.

Green Nanocomposites Based on Thermoplastic Starch: A Review

Katherine E. Rivadeneira-Velasco et al.

Summary: This study compiles information on the advancements in research on thermoplastic starch (TPS) nanocomposites with the addition of four main nanofillers, including mechanical, barrier, optical, and degradability properties. Results show that adding nanofillers can improve the mechanical performance of TPS, increase compression and tensile strength, but reduce elongation. Additionally, it enhances hydrophobicity and biodegradability.
