A national follow-up was conducted in Switzerland on 109 samples a decade after larger pan European campaigns. The study focused on the compliance of migration of plasticizers from the gaskets for lids into oily food in glass jars. The results showed that the proportion of non-compliant samples was lower due to the use of non-PVC sealing plastics, but comparable to a decade ago for samples with a PVC-based sealant.
A decade after larger pan European campaigns on the compliance of migration of plasticizers from the gaskets for lids into oily food in glass jars, a national follow up was conducted in Switzerland on 109 samples. The pro-portion of non-compliances over all samples was lower, however this is, to a large extent, due to the use of non -PVC sealing plastics. The proportion of non-compliant samples with a PVC based sealant in this study and a decade ago was comparable. The aim of this short communication is to place the results of the campaign in full into the public domain for the scientific community.
