Inorganic Nanomaterials in Tissue Engineering

Eleonora Bianchi et al.

Summary: In recent decades, the demand for tissue replacement has increased, but the availability of donors remains low. Tissue engineering has emerged as a solution to this problem by developing scaffolds that mimic the extracellular matrix of tissues. Inorganic materials have gained interest due to their wide range of properties and ability to induce biological responses. However, there are still challenges to be addressed to improve their efficacy. This review focuses on the use of effective inorganic nanomaterials in tissue engineering, particularly in skin, orthopaedic, and neural tissue engineering.

Innovative Strategies in Tendon Tissue Engineering

Eleonora Bianchi et al.

Summary: Tendon injuries are common in sports, with limited treatment options, necessitating exploration of new tissue engineering solutions. Scaffolds play a crucial role in tendon repair and regeneration, requiring appropriate structural morphology and mechanical properties. Current research focuses on innovative approaches and biological augmentation as emerging strategies.

Smart Device for Biologically Enhanced Functional Regeneration of Osteo-Tendon Interface

Summary: The study developed a scaffold that mimicked tissue fibrous arrangement and ECM composition, loaded with human platelet lysate to enhance tissue regeneration post-surgery. The results suggest that HP and PL have a synergic effect, making HP-loaded PL-aligned tubular scaffolds an effective strategy to support new tissue formation in tendon-to-bone interface regeneration.
