Radiomics in predicting treatment response in non-small-cell lung cancer: current status, challenges and future perspectives

Madhurima R. Chetan et al.

Summary: The review summarized the current status of radiomics research in predicting treatment response in non-small-cell lung cancer, indicating low quality, lack of reproducibility, and limited clinical evaluation. Efforts towards standardization and collaboration are necessary to identify reproducible radiomic predictors of response. Promising radiomic models need external validation and evaluation within the clinical pathway before being implemented for personalized treatment in NSCLC patients.

Infectious complications of EBUS-TBNA: A nested case-control study using 10-year registry data

Noeul Kang et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the incidence and risk factors of infectious complications of endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration (EBUS-TBNA). It found that necrotic target lesions on chest CT and procedures done via the esophagus were independently associated with infectious complications. Patients in the infection group tended to refuse anti-cancer treatment after being diagnosed with cancer.

Decision curve analysis to evaluate the clinical benefit of prediction models

Andrew J. Vickers et al.

Summary: Decision curve analysis is a valuable method for evaluating the clinical value of prediction models in orthopedics. By comparing the net benefit and threshold probability of prediction models, their clinical value can be determined. Decision curves help draw conclusions on the clinical value of prediction models.
