lncRNA ELFN1-AS1 predicts poor prognosis and promotes tumor progression of non-small cell lung cancer by sponging miR-497

Bin Yang et al.

Summary: The study found that ELFN1-AS1 is upregulated in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and is closely associated with disease staging, lymph node metastasis, and overall patient survival. Silencing of ELFN1-AS1 inhibits cellular processes and EMT in NSCLC. ELFN1-AS1 may function through the miR-497/CCNE1 axis.

Hypoxia-Induced Upregulation of lncRNA ELFN1-AS1 Promotes Colon Cancer Growth and Metastasis Through Targeting TRIM14 via Sponging miR-191-5p

Xu Jing et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that ELFN1-AS1 is upregulated by hypoxia in colon cancer cells and promotes proliferation and invasion while inhibiting apoptosis by sponging miR-191-5p to upregulate TRIM14. This finding enriches our understanding of colon cancer progression and provides potential targets for clinical treatment.

Computed Tomography Imaging-Based Radiogenomics Analysis Reveals Hypoxia Patterns and Immunological Characteristics in Ovarian Cancer

Songwei Feng et al.

Summary: This study aims to develop a non-invasive radiogenomics approach for identifying a hypoxia pattern in ovarian cancer and predicting patient prognostication. Hypoxia-related genes and subtypes were identified based on RNA-seq analysis of OC cell lines. Various bioinformatics algorithms were used to explore immune microenvironment, prognosis, pathway alteration, and drug sensitivity. A radiogenomics model was constructed for predicting patient risk status. The study demonstrates the potential of computed tomography-based radiogenomics biomarkers in predicting hypoxia pattern, prognosis, therapeutic effect, and immune microenvironment in OC patients.

Summary: This study used bioinformatics methods to identify four immunotypes of lower-grade glioma (LGG) and found correlations between these immunotypes and clinical and immunogenomic factors. The study also revealed that LGGs in one immunotype were sensitive to certain drugs and immune checkpoint inhibitors, and were affected by specific pathways.

Identification and verification of an immune-related lncRNA signature for predicting the prognosis of patients with bladder cancer

Jirong Wang et al.

Summary: Recent study identified seven immune-related lncRNAs with prognostic value for bladder cancer (BC) patients through TCGA database, and constructed a signature for predicting prognosis. The signature was confirmed to be an independent prognostic factor and showed different immune statuses between low- and high-risk groups. This study suggests that the identified lncRNA signature can serve as a prognostic marker for BC.

Identification of Six Autophagy-Related-lncRNA Prognostic Biomarkers in Uveal Melanoma

Yao Chen et al.

Summary: This study identified and constructed a predictive model for autophagy-related lncRNAs in uveal melanoma patients using samples from the TCGA database. The model, consisting of six lncRNAs, was found to be a significant independent prognostic factor, concentrated in biological pathways related to cytoplasmic component recycling, energy metabolism, and apoptosis. These lncRNAs have potential as molecular biomarkers and treatment targets for uveal melanoma patients.

The Genetics of Uveal Melanoma: Overview and Clinical Relevance

Aline Isabel Riechardt et al.

Summary: Uveal melanoma differs fundamentally from non-uveal melanoma and is an independent genetic subtype with low mutational burden. Significantly mutated genes, including some associated with a higher risk of metastasis, have been identified. Further genetic counseling and screening of family members should be offered in relevant cases.

The Role of LncRNAs in Uveal Melanoma

Paula Milan-Rois et al.

Summary: Uveal melanoma is a rare and deadly cancer that requires novel treatment and diagnostic approaches. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are crucial in cancer and other diseases, offering potential as therapeutic targets and diagnostic markers. Understanding lncRNAs related to uveal melanoma could inspire the development of new treatments and diagnostics, with their interaction with other non-coding RNAs playing a significant role in cancer development.

Immune-Related lncRNA Signature for Predicting the Immune Landscape of Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma

Ji Yin et al.

Summary: This study developed an immune-related lncRNA model for risk assessment and prognosis prediction in HNSCC patients, which effectively differentiated between low- and high-risk groups in terms of survival, clinico-pathological characteristics, tumor immune infiltrating status, chemotherapeutics sensitivity, and immunosuppressive molecules. A 13-irlncRNA-pair signature was built and showed high sensitivity and specificity for survival prediction, with the high-risk group exhibiting significantly poorer survival rates and negative relationships with immune infiltrations. Moreover, differences in chemotherapeutics sensitivity and molecular marker expression levels were also observed between high- and low-risk groups.
