Stillbirth rates and their association with swine leucocyte antigen class II haplotypes in Microminipigs

Noriaki Imaeda et al.

Summary: The study revealed a higher incidence of stillborn piglets in MMPs compared to other pig breeds. Differences in traits related to stillbirths, such as the number of stillborn piglets and parities, were observed among different groups. Specific SLA class II haplotypes were significantly associated with a higher incidence of stillbirths in MMPs, which could be used as genetic markers for breeding strategies to reduce the stillbirth rate.

Immunogenetics of xenotransplantation

Marco Carvalho-Oliveira et al.

Summary: Xenotransplantation has emerged as a potential solution to the shortage of donated organs, with significant progress in genetically engineered donor pigs enhancing xenograft survival. Promising immunogenetic modifications aim to ameliorate harmful immune responses targeting xeno-organs, paving the way for increased histocompatibility and potential clinical application.

HLA-G: An Important Mediator of Maternal-Fetal Immune-Tolerance

Baimei Zhuang et al.

Summary: HLA-G plays a crucial role in maternal-fetal immune tolerance, maintaining immune homeostasis and considered a key factor for successful pregnancies. Understanding the characteristics of HLA-G is important for treating pathological pregnancies and other immune-related diseases.
