First report on occurrence of bisphenol A isomers in human serum and whole blood

Zhenming Li et al.

Summary: Studies have shown the worldwide presence of BPA and its toxic effects on human health. The research quantified the concentrations of BPA, BPA-sulfate, and BPA-glucuronide in serum and whole blood samples from Chinese participants, and identified a structural isomer of BPA named B-1-BPA for the first time. These findings provide valuable insights into the metabolism and distribution of BPA in the human body.

Application of Solid-Phase Extraction and High-Performance Liquid Chromatography with Fluorescence Detection to Analyze Eleven Bisphenols in Amniotic Fluid Samples Collected during Amniocentesis

Tomasz Tuzimski et al.

Summary: A simple and sensitive HPLC-FLD method was proposed for identification and quantification of bisphenols in amniotic fluid samples. The method showed good performance in analyzing samples collected during amniocentesis. Residues of five bisphenols were detected in the amniotic fluid samples, and their potential harmfulness to fetal health was estimated.

Hemodialysis Effect on the Composition of the Eye Fluid of Cataract Patients

Joanna Dolar-Szczasny et al.

Summary: The study found increased levels of manganese and mercury, while decreased levels of vanadium and zinc in the eye fluid of dialysis patients. The ratios of Hg/Zn and Hg/Se significantly increased in the study group compared to the control, indicating the need for zinc and selenium supplementation to eliminate the toxicity caused by mercury. Lower levels of vanadium in dialysis patients may have a positive effect on maintaining calcium and phosphorus homeostasis.

The Multi-Elemental Composition of the Aqueous Humor of Patients Undergoing Cataract Surgery, Suffering from Coexisting Diabetes, Hypertension, or Diabetic Retinopathy

Jolanta Flieger et al.

Summary: The study aimed to analyze the multi-elemental composition of aqueous humor from patients undergoing cataract surgery. Significant variations were found in the elemental composition of different eye diseases, with phosphorous and cobalt showing significance in retinopathy and AMD. Patients with co-existing hypertension showed significant differences in levels of tin, titanium, and ruthenium compared to controls.
