Associated Factors and Prognostic Implications of Non-convulsive Status Epilepticus in Ischemic Stroke Patients With Impaired Consciousness

Liren Zhang et al.

Summary: Non-convulsive status epilepticus (NCSE) is a common complication of ischemic stroke in patients with impaired consciousness, and is significantly associated with in-hospital mortality and unfavorable outcomes at the 3-month follow-up. Stroke patients with severe consciousness disorders (stupor or coma) or cortical injury are more susceptible to developing NCSE.

Impact of Seizures and Status Epilepticus on Outcome in Patients with Aneurysmal Subarachnoid Hemorrhage

Stefan Yu Boegli et al.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the association between seizures (divided by timing and type) and outcome in patients with aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH). The results demonstrated that acute symptomatic nonconvulsive status epilepticus (NCSE) was an independent predictor of unfavorable outcome. Seizures and NCSE were associated with unfavorable outcome, particularly in patients with a low Hunt-Hess grade.
