Association between 3D Printing-Assisted Pelvic or Acetabular Fracture Surgery and the Length of Hospital Stay in Nongeriatric Male Adults

Chun-Chi Hung et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate whether 3D printing technology can shorten the length of hospital stay in nongeriatric male adult patients with pelvic and acetabular fractures. The results showed that 3D printing-assisted surgery did not affect the length of hospital stay, while it was positively correlated with the Injury Severity Score and negatively associated with initial hemoglobin levels in certain patient groups.

Role of 3D printing in the management of complex acetabular fractures: a comparative study

Sajid Ansari et al.

Summary: This study aimed to assess the role of 3D printing of actual size pelvis in the management and outcome of acetabular fractures. The 3D printing group showed shorter operative time, less intraoperative blood loss, and fewer intraoperative fluoroscopy images compared to the traditional group, with no difference in fracture reduction quality or final functional outcome between the two groups.

Feasibility of Imaging-Based 3-Dimensional Models to Design Patient-Specific Osteosynthesis Plates and Drilling Guides

Frank F. A. IJpma et al.

Summary: The study examines the feasibility and accuracy of fast-track 3D virtual surgical planning and patient-specific osteosynthesis for complex acetabular fracture surgery. Patient-specific osteosynthesis plates and drilling guides were designed, produced, sterilized, and clinically applied within 4 days, leading to good fracture reduction and clinical outcomes. The findings suggest that personalized surgical treatment could open a new era for the treatment of complex injuries.

A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of 3D Printing Technology for the Treatment of Acetabular Fractures

Jin Cao et al.

Summary: This systematic review and meta-analysis evaluated the efficacy of 3D printing technology in surgery for acetabular fractures, showing significant reductions in operation time, intraoperative blood loss, and instrumentation time. Compared to traditional surgery, 3D printing technology improves hip function and decreases the risk of complications.
