Knockdown of HIPK2 Attenuates Angiotensin II-Induced Cardiac Fibrosis in Cardiac Fibroblasts

Feng Xu et al.

Summary: This study found that HIPK2 expression in Ang II-induced CFs increased in a dose-dependent manner. Knockdown of HIPK2 inhibited cell proliferation and migration, decreased expression of α-smooth muscle actin, reduced extracellular matrix production, and blocked the activation of the TGF-beta 1/Smad pathway.

Cardiac fibroblast miR-27a may function as an endogenous anti-fibrotic by negatively regulating Early Growth Response Protein 3 (EGR3)

Lifeng Teng et al.

Summary: The study shows that miR-27a-5p can attenuate TAC-induced cardiac fibrosis and myofibroblast activation in vivo, while having minimal effect on cardiac myocytes. Molecularly, miR-27a-5p inhibits Tgf-beta signaling and pro-fibrotic protein secretion in cardiac fibroblasts by suppressing the pro-fibrotic transcription factor Egr3.

Exercise downregulates HIPK2 and HIPK2 inhibition protects against myocardial infarction

Qiulian Zhou et al.

Summary: Exercise-induced HIPK2 suppression attenuates cardiomyocyte apoptosis and protects against myocardial infarction by decreasing P-P53 levels. Inhibition of HIPK2 represents a potential novel therapeutic intervention for myocardial infarction.

Long Noncoding RNA Cardiac Physiological Hypertrophy-Associated Regulator Induces Cardiac Physiological Hypertrophy and Promotes Functional Recovery After Myocardial Ischemia-Reperfusion Injury

Rongrong Gao et al.

Summary: Through lncRNA microarray profiling, we identified a novel long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) associated with exercise-induced cardiac growth, named cardiac physiological hypertrophy-associated regulator (CPhar). Our study reveals the cardioprotective role of CPhar in the heart and expands our understanding of lncRNA function.

Percutaneous Intracoronary Delivery of Plasma Extracellular Vesicles Protects the Myocardium Against Ischemia-Reperfusion Injury in Canis

Hongyun Wang et al.

Summary: Plasma circulating extracellular vesicles have potential therapeutic benefits for ischemic diseases, but the delivery method is crucial. Studies using large animal and murine models, as well as human embryonic stem cells or rat cardiomyocytes, identified the role and delivery methods of EVs in ischemia-reperfusion injury. Additionally, the crucial molecule miR-486 within EVs was found to confer cardioprotective effects.
