Enhanced Photocatalytic CO2 Reduction Activity over NH2-MIL-125(Ti) by Facet Regulation

Xiao-Mei Cheng et al.

Summary: The study investigated the facet effect of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) on photocatalytic processes by synthesizing NH2-MIL-125(Ti) with different ratios of {001} and {111} facets. It was found that increasing exposed proportion of {111} facets enhanced the activity in photoreduction of CO2. The {111} facets exhibited significantly higher photocatalytic activity and quantum yields compared to the {001} facets, with an important role in inhibiting electron-hole recombination.

Dual Role of Missing-Linker Defects Terminated by Acetate Ligands in a Zirconium-Based MOF in Promoting Photocatalytic Hydrogen Peroxide Production

Yoshifumi Kondo et al.

Summary: Defect engineering using acetic acid as a modulator on a zirconium-based metal-organic framework (UiO-66-NH2) effectively enhances the photocatalytic performance in hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) production. Introducing missing-linker defects with acetate ligands promotes the linker-to-cluster charge transfer (LCCT) process and suppresses H2O2 decomposition, leading to higher H2O2 concentration under light irradiation.

Heterometallic and Hydrophobic Metal-Organic Frameworks as Durable Photocatalysts for Boosting Hydrogen Peroxide Production in a Two-Phase System

Xiaolang Chen et al.

Summary: In this study, a hydrophobic iron-doped zirconium-based metal-organic framework (OPA/Fe-Zr-MOF) was prepared and utilized for photocatalytic production of H2O2 in water phase while oxidizing benzyl alcohol in the organic phase. The hydrophobic OPA/Fe-Zr-MOF exhibited high activity in H2O2 production, attributed to Fe3+ doping and unique hydrophobicity. This research expands the application of hydrophobic MOFs in solar-to-chemical energy conversion.
