A collaborative approach to adopting/adapting guidelines. The Australian 24-hour movement guidelines for children (5-12 years) and young people (13-17 years): An integration of physical activity, sedentary behaviour, and sleep

Anthony D. Okely et al.

Summary: This paper describes the development of the updated Australian 24-Hour Movement Guidelines for Children and Young People, which integrates physical activity, sedentary behaviour, and sleep. The study adopted the GRADE-ADOLOPMENT approach and used the Canadian Guidelines as a reference. The guidelines provide evidence-informed recommendations for a healthy day (24-hours) for children and young people.

Physical and functional performance assessment in pediatric oncology: a systematic review

Regine Soentgerath et al.

Summary: This systematic review includes 149 studies and provides a comprehensive summary of 63 assessments to evaluate cardiorespiratory fitness, muscle strength, speed, balance, flexibility, functional mobility, gait or motor performance test batteries in patients and survivors of pediatric cancer. We present the most studied fields within the pediatric cancer population, which are cardiorespiratory fitness and muscle strength, off treatment phase, and leukemia patients. We propose research priorities by identification of subgroups in terms of cancer type, phase of treatment, and outcome of interest that are underrepresented in studies currently available.

Drug delivery across the blood-brain barrier for the treatment of pediatric brain tumors-An update

Erica A. Power et al.

Summary: Although there has been a surge in the identification of molecular targets and targeted therapies in pediatric brain tumors in the last decade, the blood brain barrier (BBB) remains a significant challenge for systemic drug delivery. Recent efforts have identified strategies to enhance drug delivery into pediatric brain tumors, including invasive and non-invasive technologies.

Summary: This scoping review summarizes previous studies on physical activity interventions in AYA cancer survivors, indicating that such interventions are feasible and acceptable. The interventions mainly focused on individualized and aerobic activities. However, the current evidence in this area is limited.

The international Pediatric Oncology Exercise Guidelines (iPOEG)

Amanda Wurz et al.

Summary: Physical activity and exercise are safe and beneficial for children and adolescents affected by cancer, but they often lack sufficient physical activity. The international Pediatric Oncology Exercise Guidelines (iPOEG) have been developed to promote physical activity among this population, with four guideline and five recommendation statements emphasizing the importance of movement for all children and adolescents affected by cancer.
